How to play Russian Solitaire

Open Russian Solitaire, check the instructions and begin a round. Build four suit foundations from ace to king. Look at what changes after your first action. Keep the instructions close while learning this activity. Check the relevant rule before repeating a move.

Yukon-style deal, same-suit building, no stock. Free solo play, no wagering.

Review a difficult moment

When a decision goes wrong, compare it with the common mistake described below. Start again only when you intend to leave the current round. Refer to the controls when needed.

Your goal

Build four suit foundations from ace to king. An attractive position is not enough unless the goal is met. Take a moment to understand the current position.

Step by step

  1. Move any face-up card and its tail onto the next higher rank of the same suit. Kings fill empty columns.
  2. Select a face-up card and then the destination pile or Empty slot.
  3. Use foundations where available; full Spider or Scorpion runs clear automatically.
  4. Undo reverses a choice. New deal shuffles again.

Controls

Click or tap cards and piles. Wide tableaus scroll inside the game; use Undo, Hint and New deal where shown. Use the control method described here for this activity. Use one clear input at a time.

A useful example

A heart 6 fits a heart 7, not a spade 7. Compare this with the rule that governs the move. Notice the change in the playing area.

Watch out for this

Random deals are not guaranteed solvable. A hint is a legal move, not a winning strategy. Take a moment to reassess the position before continuing. Keep the stated aim separate from side details such as animation or appearance. Progress is measured by the game’s own completion or scoring rules.
