How to play Pyramid Solitaire

Use a short break to learn the rhythm of Pyramid Solitaire. Remove all 28 pyramid cards. Use the example below to understand a decision. Use the opening round to become familiar with the layout. Look at what changes after your first action.

Pyramid, stock and waste; one stock recycle. Free solo play, no wagering.

Review a difficult moment

When a decision goes wrong, compare it with the common mistake described below. Start again only when you intend to leave the current round. Keep the objective visible.

Your goal

Remove all 28 pyramid cards. The feedback beside the game helps you follow the round. The example below illustrates a decision.

Step by step

  1. Only uncovered cards are selectable. Pairs total 13; a king removes alone.
  2. Click an exposed card or eligible pair to remove it.
  3. Draw when useful.
  4. Undo reverses a choice. New deal shuffles again.

Controls

Click or tap cards and piles. Wide tableaus scroll inside the game; use Undo, Hint and New deal where shown. A careful first action helps you become familiar with the layout. Avoid pressing the same control repeatedly while a move is being processed.

A useful example

An exposed queen pairs with an ace; a jack pairs with a 2. Focus on why the action is allowed, not only its outcome. Take a moment to compare.

Watch out for this

Random deals are not guaranteed solvable. A hint is a legal move, not a winning strategy. Compare the situation with the worked example. Choose one rule to keep in mind for this round. Apply it consistently rather than guessing what another version might allow.
