How to play Word Search

Word Search gives you a focused activity to play in your browser. Find every listed word in a 10×10 grid. Check the relevant rule before repeating a move. Use the opening round to become familiar with the layout. Use the example below to understand a decision.

Each board contains eight target words from the included English word list.

A careful first round

Before your first action, say what you are trying to achieve. Then compare the result with the goal. Notice the feedback after each input.

Your goal

Find every listed word in a 10×10 grid. Use the instructions to see which actions move you towards it. Start with a deliberate move.

Step by step

  1. Select the first and last letter of a straight word.
  2. Words can run horizontally, vertically or diagonally, in either direction.
  3. Find all eight targets.
  4. New puzzle shuffles again.

Controls

Tap or click endpoints. On a smaller screen, keep the active part of the board within view. Make sure you are interacting with the game rather than the surrounding page.

A useful example

Selecting the endpoints in reverse order also finds the same word. Compare this with the rule that governs the move. Keep the controls nearby.

Watch out for this

Words cannot turn corners. A different version of the game may use a different rule. Compare the worked example with your own position. Use the reasoning, not an answer copied from a different board.
